In a hospital room, a dying Charles Sterling speaks with his tearful granddaughter Ella. He explains that he arranged a marriage for her so someone can watch over her after his death. Once Ella steps outside, Charles kneels with an old trident coin. Sixty years earlier, he pulled a glowing trident from the ocean. Dylan Crowley appears in the room. Charles asks him to protect Ella as her husband for five years. Dylan accepts the deal.

Episode 1 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Charles Arranges a Future Husband

    Charles Sterling rests in his hospital bed while Ella weeps at his side. He informs her that he selected a husband to care for her after his death. Charles then instructs his granddaughter to leave him alone in the room.

  2. 00:44: Summoning with the Trident Coin

    Charles climbs out of his bed and drops to his knees on the hospital floor. He holds up a special golden coin engraved with a trident symbol. With this sacred object, he calls forth the Sea God Dylan into the room.

  3. 01:33: The Glowing Trident at Sea

    A flashback moves to an open fishing boat sixty years in the past. A young Charles Sterling hauls in his fishing net from the ocean waters. He pulls out a glowing trident, which awakens the sleeping Sea God beneath the waves.

  4. 01:54: A Five-Year Divine Promise

    Dylan appears in the hospital room and asks Charles what he desires. Charles asks him to guard Ella as her wedded husband for five years. Dylan agrees to the terms and formally accepts the dying man's final request.
