Breaking the Dams

How we review

A Breaking the Dams guide answers three questions about a short drama: which tropes it plays, where the twists land, and who it suits. This page explains how a series goes from its first episode to a published guide, and what a guide will and will not tell you.

It starts with the episodes

Guides are written from the episodes themselves, never from a trailer, a poster or the promotional blurb a show ships with. Each episode is logged scene by scene: roughly when it happens, who is in it and what they do. Names are written the way the show writes or says them; anyone the show leaves unnamed is described, not given a made-up name.

Naming the tropes

From those notes we pick out the setups the story leans on, using the names viewers already use: secret identity, contract marriage, mistaken bed, revenge after betrayal. A trope only goes on a page if a scene shows it, and the page says which scene.

Placing the twists

For each reveal the guide notes when it comes and what it changes. If a twist is still unresolved in the episodes we have logged, the page says so instead of guessing how it ends.

Checking before it goes live

A draft is compared with the scene notes before it is published. Any name, relationship or order of events that does not match is corrected. Every page shows the date it was last updated.

What you will not find

No star ratings and no ranking of one series against another. A guide describes what happens and leaves the verdict to you.

Corrections

When a reader points out a mistake, that episode is checked against the page again and fixed. You can reach us on the contact page.
