Episode 4 recap

Leah gears up on her boat and records a log about mating season. She calls Professor Owen, who suggests Thalanis might be courting her with his food gifts. Leah laughs at the idea, saying humans and merfolk cannot interbreed. She swims down to the coral reef to film the creature. Local merfolk pair off, and two mermaids touch Thalanis's chest. He bares fangs, his eyes turn red, and he roars, shoving them away.

Episode 4 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Mating Season Observer Log

    Leah stands on the deck of her research boat. She organizes her scuba equipment for an upcoming dive. While checking her gear, she records an audio log noting that merfolk mating season has officially begun in the surrounding waters.

  2. 00:33: A Warning From Professor Owen

    Leah calls Professor Owen to discuss Thalanis. Owen points out that mermen hunt food exclusively for potential mates and asks if the creature wants her. Leah laughs, insists interbreeding is impossible, and prepares her camera to film him underwater.

  3. 01:33: Searching the Coral Reef

    Leah swims down into the ocean to film the local wildlife. She spots several pairs of merfolk swimming together near the coral. She moves past the couples and scans the open water until she finds Thalanis floating alone nearby.

  4. 01:48: Thalanis Rejects the Mermaids

    Two female mermaids swim up to Thalanis and stroke his chest. Thalanis instantly bares sharp fangs as his eyes glow a bright crimson. He lets out a loud roar and violently shoves both mermaids away right in front of Leah.
