He bandages Layla's shoulder, calls himself Kieran, and carries her out toward the city.

Sitting near the fireplace, Kalen binds the wound on the girl's shoulder. She introduces herself as Layla Ashburn. Kalen calls himself Kieran, mentions his northern master sent him south, and offers to escort her home.

Kalen lifts the wounded Layla onto his back inside the tavern. They leave the counter behind and step out into the cold, starting their journey down the snowy road toward the city and the Ashburn estate.
