Episode 9 recap

Alexander searches for Lila in the hospital and misses her in the corridor. He checks her empty room, where a nurse directs him to the NICU. Alexander holds his newborn son and orders Dr. Lee to move the boy to a private unit. Lila returns with breast milk and finds the incubator empty. The nurse says someone took the baby. Aunt Martha calls and orders Lila home, leaving her terrified that her family took her son.

Episode 9 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Near Miss in the Hallway

    Alexander walks down the corridor with his companion. They meet Dr. Lee to discuss Lila. Meanwhile, Lila walks away down the same hall in the background. Neither Alexander nor Lila notices the other as she turns the corner and leaves.

  2. 00:10: An Empty Hospital Room

    Alexander steps into Lila's room and finds her bed completely empty. He asks where she went. The attending nurse informs him that Lila stepped away, but explains that her newborn baby remains downstairs in the hospital neonatal intensive care unit.

  3. 00:28: Alexander Holds His Son

    Alexander enters the nursery and cradles his infant son in his arms. He marvels at becoming a father. Alexander then asks Dr. Lee to move the boy into the hospital's best private unit with constant, round-the-clock medical attention.

  4. 00:50: The Empty Incubator

    Lila walks back to the nursery carrying a fresh bottle of breast milk. She looks through the glass and sees an empty incubator. When the nurse tells her that someone already picked up her child, Lila drops the bottle in horror.

  5. 01:11: A Frantic Phone Call

    Lila stands in the hallway in total panic over her missing son. Her phone suddenly rings. Martha Cobb speaks sharply on the line and demands that Lila return home right away. Lila immediately suspects that her aunt took the baby.
