Episode 8 recap

Sawyer forces Esther to raise her head while she gathers broken glass, but his female companion interrupts them. The club manager urges Esther to finish cleaning. When Esther tries to leave, Mr. Lee blocks her way and shoves the manager aside. He propositions Esther and threatens her. After she rejects him, Mr. Lee throws cash at her face and demands she kneel. When Esther refuses, Mr. Lee slaps her down.

Episode 8 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Interruption at the Broken Glass

    Sawyer demands that Esther lift her head while she crouches to collect broken glass. His companion in the black dress cuts in and clings to Sawyer's arm. The manager hurries over and tells Esther to finish clearing the floor immediately.

  2. 00:18: Mr. Lee Blocks the Exit

    Esther turns toward the doorway to exit the lounge. Mr. Lee steps directly in her path to cut her off. The manager tries to plead on Esther's behalf, but Mr. Lee shoves her away, threatening Esther with harsh words and unwanted propositions.

  3. 00:36: The Slap and the Demand

    Enraged by Esther's refusal, Mr. Lee flings a wad of banknotes straight into her face. He orders her to drop down and wipe his shoes. Esther gives a calm refusal, so Mr. Lee strikes her across the face with a hard slap.
