A Roman soldier warns Emperor Lucius that Rome and Valeria will burn if he does not appear tonight. Lucius leaves with him. At the banquet, Cassius boasts about his uncle. After Cassius's mistress insults her, Valeria splashes wine into the woman's face. Cassius tells his mistress the baby is his tool for gaining territory. The mistress plots to kill it. Later, three drunk guests corner Valeria near a well.

A kneeling soldier warns Emperor Lucius that Rome and Lady Valeria face fiery ruin if he fails to appear tonight. Lucius glances back toward Valeria. He turns away and departs immediately with the soldier to confront the looming war.
00:12: Wine Thrown at the Banquet
Cassius drinks with his guests and brags about his uncle, Emperor Lucius Augustus. Cassius's mistress insults Valeria in front of the crowd. Valeria walks up to the woman and splashes wine directly into her face, calling her a whore.
00:41: Cassius Protects His Bargaining Chip
Cassius sends his wet mistress into the garden to clean herself up. He warns her not to touch Valeria, explaining the unborn baby secures new territory. The mistress refuses to lose her future and secretly resolves to murder the child.
01:19: Valeria Promises Marcus Freedom
Valeria stands alone near the courtyard well holding a silver eagle medallion. She stares at the token and speaks to her brother Marcus. She promises to rescue him as soon as the Emperor arrives and destroys Cassius for good.
01:31: Drunk Guests Corner Valeria
Three drunk male guests sneak away from the banquet into the dark courtyard. They surround Valeria by the stone well and block her escape. The men leer at her as she backs away with nowhere left to run.
