A flash-forward presents an apocalyptic wasteland where Alex survives among stockpiled supplies while reflecting that status vanished. Before the disaster, Alex handles maintenance tasks at an elite estate celebration. His supervisor insults him and kicks his toolbox. As Alex leaves, a waiter accidentally bumps him, splashing red liquid and ice onto Victoria Taylor's expensive shoes. The supervisor kicks Alex down, and Victoria rests her heel on his shoulder, demanding he wipe the mess.

Episode 1 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: The Fall of Civilization

    In a flash-forward, infected attackers swarm people while buildings collapse across the city. Alex stands unharmed beside gathered resources and several women. He states that money became useless and social status lost its value after the world fell apart.

  2. 00:20: Abuse in the Ballroom

    Wealthy guests drink and celebrate inside the luxurious ballroom. Alex kneels on the floor to fix electrical wiring. His supervisor walks over, kicks over Alex's toolbox, and tells him his only role in life is serving wealthy people.

  3. 01:08: Spilled Wine on Designer Shoes

    Alex gathers his equipment and walks across the ballroom to leave. A waiter carrying a bucket of wine and ice runs directly into him. The red liquid splashes across Miss Taylor's bare leg and ruins her expensive designer footwear.

  4. 01:18: Humiliation on the Floor

    The supervisor seizes Alex and shouts at him about the ruined footwear. Miss Taylor tells Alex to clean them. The supervisor kicks Alex directly onto his knees, and Miss Taylor places her stained heel on top of Alex's shoulder.
