Episode 2 recap

An advisor calls Beryl to ask why she is giving up on Cayden, triggering painful memories. Flashbacks show Cayden rejecting Beryl in their youth because of Sharon. After divorcing Sharon, Cayden marries Beryl to look after young Jasper. When Jasper acts out, the grandparents lock claustrophobic Beryl in a dark room. Episode 2 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Phone Call From an Advisor

    Beryl sits in her bedroom and answers a phone call from an advisor. The advisor asks why she is walking away from Cayden. The question brings back memories of her long history with her husband.

  2. 00:17: Memories of Youth and Rejection

    In a flashback, Beryl grows up as the chauffeur's daughter beside Cayden. She confesses her romantic feelings to him. Cayden brushes her off as a sister and warns her that his girlfriend Sharon will be upset.

  3. 01:17: A Marriage Arranged for Jasper

    Cayden divorces Sharon after Jasper is born. Looking for a docile caretaker for his son, Cayden proposes to Beryl. A mother figure warns Beryl against joining the family, but Beryl still agrees to marry him.

  4. 02:20: Locked in the Reflection Room

    Jasper torments Beryl constantly. When he sneaks off with Sharon and mocks Beryl's panic, Beryl loses her temper and scolds him. The Grant grandparents punish Beryl by locking her inside a dark reflection room.

    Beryl suffers from claustrophobia in the dark room. She calls Cayden and begs him to unlock the door. Cayden mocks her weight, refuses to release her, and leaves to plan a trip with Sharon instead.
