The drama opens with familiar cruelty. Su Nianyao saves her father's life through a bone marrow transplant, but her spoiled half-sister Gu Yutong steals the credit. Her father and relatives abuse her instead of thanking her. Nianyao coughs blood and dies on the cold living room floor while her family turns away. When she opens her eyes again, time has rewound to the day before the donor screening. This second chance changes the rules completely. She refuses to donate, cuts ties, and leaves the Gu mansion behind.
What keeps viewers locked in is the dramatic irony. While Nianyao auditions for a blockbuster movie and captures millions of fans online, her father discovers that nobody in his twenty-eight-member clan matches his bone marrow except the daughter he discarded. He still mistakenly believes Yutong's mother was his long-lost childhood sweetheart, Little Water Bottle. The audience watches him dig his own grave. He constantly sides with a manipulative imposter while his gifted biological daughter thrives on her own merit.
