Victor tells Sophia that the old man will come after her if she walks away alone. Sophia listens to his warning. She agrees to his offer on the spot and tells him they should go register their marriage right away.

Inside the office, the marriage registry clerk sets the paperwork on the desk for them. Both Sophia and Victor write their names on the forms. The clerk presses an ink stamp on the documents and hands each of them a red marriage booklet.
