Episode 2 recap

Marcus Kingsley enters the grand hall while students gather on both sides of the carpet. Chloe Morello drops to his feet, crying that Elena injured her wrist and disgraced her name. Marcus commands Elena to bend her knees and apologize. Elena walks right up to him, fingers his gold bracelet, and insults his authority. Marcus chokes Elena against a pillar until her heart pendant drops. The sight stuns Marcus into letting her leave unharmed.

Episode 2 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Marcus Arrives on the Red Carpet

    Students gather along the borders of the red carpet inside the cathedral-like school hallway. Marcus Kingsley steps into the hall as the onlookers watch him make his entrance. He walks forward alone past the assembled crowd of classmates.

  2. 00:11: Chloe Begs Marcus for Revenge

    Chloe Morello drops to the ground and wraps her arms around Marcus's leg. She cries out in front of everyone, stating Elena ruined her dress, broke her wrist, and brought disgrace onto the Morello family name.

  3. 00:27: Elena Confronts the Academy Ruler

    Marcus commands Elena to drop to her knees and apologize to Chloe. Elena does not back down. She approaches Marcus, touches his gold bracelet, and calls him a spoiled boy who is merely playing king inside a cage.

  4. 00:55: A Threat and a Fallen Locket

    Marcus shoves Elena against a stone pillar and wraps his hand around her neck. He threatens to snap her neck on the spot. Elena's heart locket suddenly slips free, crashes to the ground, and catches Marcus's attention.

  5. 01:13: Elena Walks Away Free

    Marcus immediately opens his hand and steps back from Elena in complete disbelief. Elena calmly bends down, picks up her dropped heart necklace from the floor, and walks away from the pillar while Marcus stands frozen in place.

Marcus lets go of Elena's neck after staring at the fallen heart locket in shock. Elena bends down, retrieves her jewelry, and calmly strides out of the hallway. Marcus remains standing motionless beside the pillar. Why does Elena's pendant cause the untouchable heir of the Kingsley Empire to freeze and spare her life?
