Episode 6 recap

Malik steps off a private jet onto the airstrip. Coach Eric welcomes him with a banner and gets ready to drive him into town. Meanwhile, the town priest announces a massive shoe giveaway and a new gym funded by Madeline Barnes. The priest hands out shoes to every family except Malik's household. When Denise speaks up, the priest and Chase slander Malik. Denise faces the whole church and defends her son.

Episode 6 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Malik Lands in Drywell

    Malik steps off a private jet onto the tarmac. Coach Eric welcomes him warmly while holding a Hoops Star Hometown Hero banner. Eric then prepares to drive Malik straight into Drywell.

  2. 00:15: The Church Shoe Distribution

    Inside the Drywell church, the priest announces Madeline Barnes donated shoes for every home and three million dollars for a gym. He calls out family names and hands out sneakers, but skips Malik's household completely.

  3. 01:17: Denise Defends Her Son

    Denise asks why the priest skipped Malik. Chase and the priest falsely claim Chase brought the donations, and they slander Malik as a prostitute. Denise stands before the entire congregation and passionately defends her boy.

The episode closes inside the packed church as the congregation turns on Denise. Chase and the priest stand by their accusations while taking credit for the gifts. Denise clenches her fists and insists her son is innocent. Will anyone believe Denise before Malik arrives in town to expose the truth?
