Staff shut down the broadcast feed after Elena's announcement. Derek pulls Elena into a private room and screams at her about the public embarrassment. Elena reminds him that their son just rejected her. Celeste arrives holding hands with Eli. Eli defends Celeste, cuts Elena out of the family picture, and calls her family thieves. Elena recalls her father entering prison. She cries upon understanding Derek's family trained her son to despise her.

Episode 3 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Offstage in Silence

    Production staff scramble across the stage area to cut off the live video feed. Derek grabs a silent Elena by the arm and pulls her through the backstage corridor into an empty private lounge.

  2. 00:16: Confrontation Behind Closed Doors

    Derek slams the lounge door shut. He furiously attacks Elena for humiliating him in front of the crowd. Elena stands her ground, answering that Eli openly wiped her from the portrait and claimed another woman as his mother.

  3. 00:36: Eli Defends Celeste

    Celeste walks in hand in hand with Eli and acts as a peacemaker. Eli places himself in front of Celeste. He tells Elena he excludes her on purpose, repeating his grandmother's words about her family being liars.

  4. 01:36: Memories and Cold Truths

    A three-year-old memory flashes of Elena's father entering prison after a scandal. Back in the present lounge, Elena weeps as she realizes the Harrington family deliberately poisoned her young son's mind against her and her father.
