Episode 5 recap

Candidates gather outside a pen where golden hounds guard swaddled babies. Apollo strengthens the beasts with divine power, and Erin starts the test. One applicant gets bitten, and another has her magical barrier broken. Natalie enters the enclosure alone and faces down the charging pack. When the dust clears, Apollo demands that Erin erase Natalie's memory, but Erin spots the hounds sleeping while Natalie holds a baby.

Episode 5 Scene by Scene

  1. 00:00: Fear Outside the Pen

    Candidates cower in fear outside the pen as golden hounds guard swaddled infants. Apollo stands nearby in his red and gold robes. He watches the mortals and expects Natalie Hopkins to fail so she can become his personal footstool.

  2. 00:34: The Golden Hound Lunges

    A golden hound lunges straight at the wooden fence right in front of Natalie Hopkins. Natalie does not flinch or back away. Apollo infuses the beasts with divine power, and Erin officially announces the beginning of the trial.

  3. 01:07: Candidates Enter the Ranch

    The first candidate enters the ranch and gets bitten on the arm before being pulled away. A second applicant casts a glowing spherical shield. A hound smashes through the barrier and knocks her flat to the dirt.

  4. 01:33: Confronting the Lead Hound

    Natalie opens the gate and steps inside the enclosure alone. Apollo mocks her from the sidelines. The pack of hounds quickly surrounds her. Natalie stands firm, looks at the lead hound, and orders the creature to back away.

  5. 02:10: The Calm in the Ranch

    Erin summons magic to intervene while Apollo tells her to erase Natalie's memory and send her away. The dust clears across the ranch. Erin gasps when she sees every hound sleeping peacefully and Natalie safely cradling an infant.

“Those hounds... My grandma told me, once they bite you, the wound never heals. Not even gods can fix it!”

Candidate 1 · She says this while trembling before the trial begins outside the hound pen.

“Heh... Idiot. Those hounds will rip a mortal like her to shreds. Not even bones left.”

Apollo · Apollo whispers this to himself as Natalie approaches the dangerous wooden pen.

“Back. Off.”

Natalie Hopkins · Natalie gives this direct order when the pack of golden hounds surrounds her.

“I told you. Humans can't do this! Picking nannies from the human world? Dumbest idea ever. Get her out. Wipe her memory. Send her back. Don't let her die in Olympus!”

Apollo · Apollo shouts this to Erin while assuming Natalie has failed the dangerous test.

How Episode 5 Ends

The episode ends with Apollo urging Erin to wipe Natalie's memory and send her back to the mortal world. Instead, Erin looks into the pen and gasps as Natalie cradles a baby among sleeping beasts. Will Apollo accept that Natalie passed this trial, or will he find another excuse to reject her?
