Cole brings the wounded heir back to the estate in the pouring rain. Family physician Dr. Anderson inspects the laceration and observes that it is closing unusually fast, but Julian drives him out. When Cole finishes cleaning the injury, Julian demands that Cole sleep with him. Julian repeats his cruel assertion that Cole is merely his obedient dog. Provoked by the insult, Cole pushes Julian onto the sofa and kisses him.
